In previous versions of Excel, you were required to save the workbook to OneDrive, and only one person could edit the workbook at a time. The Share button in Excel 2016 is located on the upper right hand side of the screen above the ribbon. To share the workbook that you currently have open, click the Share button. You will then see the Share.

When it requires the user to save a copy, open the file in Excel Online to see if anyone else is editing it.
